In Year 10 Food Technology students will further expand their skills developed at Year 9 while also gaining a better understanding of the practical and theory elements involved in Food Technology. The two subject options offered at Year 10 allow for students to undertake the study of food technology for the entire year if they choose and timetabling allows. Students will continue to focus on the development of key life skills such as team work, time management and organisation.
This semester based subject will provide students with an introduction to VCE Food Studies. Students will investigate topics such as food origins, including food around the world, nutrition, healthy eating and the science of food. Students will undertake a range of practical sessions that will include cooking, practical and sensory analysis. This subject is strongly recommended for those interested in undertaking Food Studies at VCE level.
