The Exchange Program between Gladstone Park Secondary College and Sister School Blaise Pascal Technical School in Reggio Emilia, Italy, first took place in September 2001. The exchange was established by retired staff member Lina Morales and is now coordinated by Jenny Chaperon.
The exchange is based on a reciprocal agreement that involves students being hosted in the family of a student who attends the school. The program involves school attendance, preparation of topics to present to other students and sightseeing. During “even” years, Blaise Pascal students visit Australia and during “odd” years GPSC students visit Italy.
The Exchange Program occurs during the last week of Term 3 and the September school holidays (3 weeks in total). During the three weeks, eight days is spent with host families and the remaining time is spent visiting historical sights. Over the years students have visited: Rome, Florence, Venice (Murano & Burano), Tuscany (Pisa), Verona, Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi Coast, Milan, Reggio Emilia, Naples (Pompeii & Ercolano) and Salerno. Each year the itinerary changes slightly to allow students to see the many wonders of Italy.
The application process and further information for families and students wishing to attend will appear on Compass in due course. Questions and inquiries are welcome any time by email to jenny.chaperon@gladstoneparksc.vic.edu.au
